The following Goodwe inverter WiFi reconnect guide is applicable for all Goodwe WiFi-enabled inverters which include the Goodwe D-NS, Smart DT, ET Hybrid and EH Hybrid models.

Likely causes.

Ask yourself the following questions;

  • Was there a blackout or a power outage recently?
  • Has the modem been switched off for any reason recently?
  • Have you recently changed to the NBN?
  • Has the modem been changed or upgraded? 
  • Has the solar system been switched off recently?
  • Has an electrician been working on the property? 

If you answered yes to any of the above, then there is a high chance your Goodwe inverter has disconnected from your WiFi network. In a nutshell, your inverter is now trying to communicate through an IP address which is no longer available from your modem.

It’s important you know the steps to reconnect any WiFi based device as IP addresses will continue to change over the systems lifetime. Here is how to get your Goodwe inverter WiFi reconnected. 

IMPORTANT: If your inverter has disconnected from your WiFi network, this will not affect your solar energy systems ability to produce energy. It will only prohibit  the communication to the Goodwe SEMS Portal cloud server which allows you the view your solar production information.

Requirements before initiating sequence.
  1. Physical access to your Goodwe inverter.
  2. A WiFi-enabled device such as a smartphone or tablet.
  3. Patience, the average reconnection time is 10mins.
  4. PSW Tip: Tea, Coffee or a refreshing beverage of your choice. You’re welcome in advance 😉
Step 1: Activate WiFi Access Point.

1. Open your Goodwe SEMS Portal app on your smartphone or tablet and select  WIFI CONFIGURATION in the bottom right-hand corner of the login screen.

2. Make sure your Goodwe inverter is POWERED ON and select next. 

3. Select the “GO INTO WLAN SETTING INTERFACE” button, a pop up will appear with all the information you need to connect to your inverter network.

Step 2: Connect device WiFi.

Open up the WIFI SETTINGS on your smartphone or tablet and find your solar inverter network “Solar-WiFi########” and enter the password “12345678”.

Once you’ve connected to the inverter network, reopen the Goodwe SEMS app.

Step 3: Network setup.

Within the Goodwe SEMS Portal app, select NEXT again.

When prompted, select “the desired wireless network for the inverter” (your home WiFi network) and select CONNECTION.

When prompted, enter your home WiFi network password and select NEXT

You’ve successfully configured your inverter and the power light or WiFi light should now be solid (no flashing).

    My wifi indicator for goodwe inverter is in solid now. I was wondering why until now in the sems it is offline . Im tired waiting for 3 days . But nothing happened .

    Is there a way to set the inverter or wifi modem to auto reconect (e.g wps) or something without having to go through this procedure every time we have a power or internet outage ?

      The Goodwe should auto-reconnect every time. Potentially the issue exists within the modem your Goodwe is connected to as the modem may be changing the IP address each time there is a power or internet outage?

    Has worked for years untill 3 days ago now when I contact to the solar wifi to re connect, it won’t let me go to the next stepp

      I have the same issue

    On mine the WIFI LED on the inverter turns off. I have to reset the Inverter.

    I have the same issue as well. I have 2 inverters, one has wifi light flashing as ready to go the other has a different series of flashes indicating it cant contact the server. I have deleted and reinstalled app. I have tried resetting the wifi units on the inverters by pushing and holding the little black button in the inverter, also turned off both inverters and restarted. I can connect to the Solar wifi via iphone, then it won’t let me go to the next step, ie connect to home internet. Any help would be appreciated.

We have recently moved to a new premises and are awaiting the installation of the Goodwe inverter testing station. Once this has been installed the simulation of the Goodwe issues can begin.     My Goodwee Inverter reports OFFLINE. I can ping the Solar-WiFi. I have turned off the INVERTER and turned back on, using correct procedure. The yellow led blinks 4 time every 1.6 seconds. I rebooted the Solar-WiFi and even the router. Still reports OFFLINE. It is true it is overcast day but reported online between 7:10 am and 8:00 pm. It then dropped to zero. Did same yesterday and was zero from 8:00 am to end of day. Can you advise? Please.

    I have installed goodwe 4600 SS model on grid inverter. It doesn’t show Soler wifi. It only shows GoodWe-HF . How to resolve this issue. GoodWe-HF is connected to my smart phone but Soler WiFi not visible.

    My app has worked perfectly for 9 months. Two days ago it stopped displaying the data and indicated it was offline. I followed instructions and it said it was all connected. Today it says it is not connected to my wifi and after “diagnosis “ it says the version of my inverter is too old. How to update my inverter ‘version’? Any help would be appreciated.

    im trying to connect to the inverter. i can find the network “Solar-wifi” but it has no serial number in it. i have forced the serial into the ap name and it isnt an active network. i have reset it and i lose my connection to the solar wifi but the app wont accept it

    Have tried all avenues that goodwee suggest for linking a new internet provider modem to the Goodwee inverter, and nothing works and it does not take the steps as provided by Goodwee. Don’t change internet providers or modems there is no answer a waisted couple of days

    our power has been off for the smart meter upgrade. But 2 hours later they are still not connecting, yellow ‘wifi’ light is flashing twice then a break, repeat. The inverters are not coming up on my wifi list to reconnect via app, please help.

    I bought gd 5048d-es 2 years ago but brand new, i found out it is an old model, when i try to connect it to wifi so i can use the inverter the phone app states my inverter is too old. I need help to make use of the inverter.
