Sigenergy discontinues the Sigen 25kW EVDC charging module

Sigenergy has issued a product change notice (EOM2026001, dated 20 May 2026) confirming the 25kW Sigen EVDC Charging Module has reached end of marketing for Australia and New Zealand, effective 9 June 2026. The hardware isn’t going away. From now on, every SigenStor EVDC ships factory-set at 12.5kW, and 25kW output becomes a software licence you activate when you need it. The 5m cable model has also been withdrawn from sale.

If you own an EVDC, or you’re planning a SigenStor system with DC fast charging, here’s exactly what changed and what it means for you. Four model codes reached the end of marketing and the end of production on 9 June 2026:

The range now consists of two models: the SigenStor EVDC 12 7.5S2 and EVDC 12 10S2, with 7.5m and 10m integrated cables respectively. Both are listed as available from Sigenergy’s warehouse, so this is a lineup simplification rather than a supply gap.

Sigenergy’s stated reason is accessibility. A lower factory power rating brings the entry price of home DC fast charging and V2X capability down, and households that want the full 25kW can unlock it with a licence rather than different hardware.

One module, two power levels

The current datasheet (version 20260609) defines two operational modes for the same physical module:

Everything else remains unchanged: IP66-rated, smart air cooling, bi-directional V2X operation, and it still pairs with the Sigen Energy Controller as part of the SigenStor stack. This is a module within the system, not a standalone wallbox.

Two things identify the new upgradeable version. The packaging carries a green UPGRADABLE label, and the product label now reads “Factory-set ratings limited to: 12.5kW/40A DC output & 42A DC input. Maximum ratings of 25kW/80A DC output & 65A DC input available after software license activation.”

That distinction matters. Only the new upgradeable version accepts the licence. If you have an older 12.5kW EVDC installed, it stays a 12.5kW unit. The upgrade path applies to hardware shipped from the change onward, not retrospectively.

How the 25kW upgrade licence works

The licence is purchased and activated through the mySigen app, or through a distributor or installer. The process Sigenergy documents is short:

No site visit, no hardware swap. 

Will an upgraded unit always charge at 25kW?

No, and Sigenergy is upfront about this. The licence raises the ceiling. What you draw under that ceiling depends on the energy available in your system at that moment: PV output, battery contribution, and grid power, with the grid portion limited by your inverter’s rated power.

Sigenergy’s own worked example makes the point. A system with a 20kW Energy Controller and two battery packs charging in fast mode reaches 25kW comfortably in most scenarios. Cut the PV to zero on a winter evening and the same system delivers around 22kW, because the grid contribution caps out at the inverter rating.

For a typical Perth home with a single-phase SigenStor EC, the practical read is this: reaching the full 25kW generally relies on solar and battery working together with the grid, and more battery packs mean more headroom. Sigenergy states plainly that real-time charging power below 25kW in these situations is normal system behaviour, not a fault with the charger or the licence. Worth understanding before you buy the licence, which is exactly why they put it in writing.

Existing owners

If you own a 25kW EVDC: nothing changes day to day. Your unit keeps operating at its rated 25kW. Sigenergy’s notice lists end of service for the discontinued model codes as 9 June 2029, and warranty continues per your original purchase terms.

If you own an older 12.5kW EVDC: your unit is the non-upgradeable version and the licence does not apply to it. If you need 25kW, talk to us about options.

If you’re buying now: any EVDC shipped from 9 June 2026 is the upgradeable version. Look for the green label on the carton.
