REPLY. Three emails decide whether your WA battery rebate gets paid

The WA Government has published a new one-page guide to applying for the battery rebate. The part that catches people out is not the quote. It is the three emails from Plenti that you have to deal with before anything gets paid.

The WA battery rebate does not get lost at the quote. It gets lost in your inbox.

The State Government has just put out a plain one-page guide to applying for the WA Residential Battery Scheme, and the line it leans on hardest is this: reply to Plenti's emails at every step, or your application may not go any further. Plenti is the lender the Government appointed to run the rebate and the no-interest loan. We lodge the application for you. After that, three of the steps involve you.

Three emails, and two of them need your answer

1. Verify. Soon after we submit, Plenti emails you to check the quote, confirm your ID and get your consent to go ahead. If you asked for the no-interest loan, a loan form comes too. Nothing moves until this is done.

2. Approval. Once it is approved, you and we both get a confirmation email. This one needs no reply, but it is your signal that we can book the install.

3. Final confirmation. After the battery is in and we have sent Plenti the compliance paperwork, Plenti asks you to confirm you are happy. You must answer it. Your rebate and loan cannot be finalised until you do. If something is not right, this is the moment to tell us.

Your quote should show four numbers

Before you sign, the guide says the quote should spell out:

  • The WA rebate discount
  • The federal discount (the Cheaper Home Batteries Program)
  • Whether you are adding the no-interest loan
  • The total cost, including every other fee or charge

If any of those is missing or looks wrong, ask before you sign. That applies to our quotes too.

The rebate in numbers

  • Synergy customers: $130 per kWh, up to $1,300
  • Horizon Power customers: $380 per kWh, up to $3,800
  • No-interest loan: $2,001 to $10,000 over three to 10 years, no fees, household income under $210,000, credit assessed. It can help pay for solar installed as a package with the battery.
  • The catch: the battery must be 5kWh or more and join a virtual power plant (VPP)

Since July 2026 the loan form only opens after the rebate form is in. If the loan is declined, the rebate still stands.

To 30 September, Plenti had paid more than 37,000 WA rebates. The federal side is moving too: the federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January.

The small details that hold up approval

Plenti told installers at this month's industry forum where applications most often stall. Two of them sit with you:

  • Your address. It has to match exactly across the Western Power paperwork, the invoice and the application, unit number included. "3/14" on one and "Unit 3, 14" on another is enough to stop it.
  • Your NMI. That is the National Meter Identifier printed on your Synergy or Horizon Power bill. Send us a recent bill and we will take it straight from there.

The rest (matching equipment, the right forms, chasing Synergy) is our job.

Quoting a battery from Bibra Lake in the south or Neerabup in the north, we will walk you through each email before it lands. Get a quote and we will tell you exactly what the rebate and loan come to on your home.
