Tesla Powerwall 3 rebate extended: save up to $1,500

Tesla has extended its Next Million Powerwall rebate. Eligible Powerwall 3 installations ordered before 30 June 2026 can attract up to AUD $1,500 per address, paid as a Visa reward card. The extension is designed to offset the reduction in the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which took effect on 1 May 2026.

For Perth households still considering a battery, the effect is that the all-up cost of a Powerwall 3 system stays close to where it was before the federal scheme winds back. That changes the maths for many decisions that were on the fence.

TLDR

The rebate is worth up to $1,500 per address, based on an install of two eligible Powerwall units. Tesla pays it as a Virtual Visa Reward card after installation, and it cannot be redeemed for cash. A single-unit install earns a smaller amount, with $1,500 as the ceiling. Tesla sets the terms and conditions.

The order has to be placed before 30 June 2026. If you already run a Powerwall 2 and add a Powerwall 3, you qualify under the same offer. Most manufacturer rebates shut existing owners out, so this one is worth knowing about.

The ability to stack

with other batttery schemes

This is the part most articles get wrong. There are three separate schemes operating in WA right now, and they do not all do the same thing.

1. Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs): The federal STC discount on the solar component of your system. From 1 May 2026, the STC factor drops by approximately 19%, with a tiered structure: full benefit for the first 14 kWh of battery, 60% for 14–28 kWh, and 15% for 28–50 kWh. STC values are subject to market fluctuation.

2. WA Residential Battery Scheme: The state rebate is paid on the battery itself. Administered by Energy Policy WA. Eligibility and amounts are set by the scheme.

3. Federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program: The federal battery rebate, which is reducing in value from 1 May 2026. The Tesla rebate extension is explicitly designed by Tesla to soften that reduction.

The Tesla rebate sits on top of all three. It is a manufacturer’s offer, not a government incentive. That means the eligibility checks and the paperwork are different from the government schemes, and the Tesla rebate is paid by Tesla after installation rather than applied at the point of sale.

The timing

Order a Powerwall 3 system between now and 30 June 2026 and you can line up four discounts at once:

• The current solar STC factor

• The WA Residential Battery Scheme

• The current federal battery program rate (if installed before the May reduction)

• The Tesla rebate of up to $1,500

Miss the June date, and the Tesla top-up goes. That is a tight window, closing fast. The move that protects you is simple: get a quote in front of you now, while every scheme is still on the table. Decisions made after a deadline has passed cost real money.

Tesla updates

We are Perth’s only five-time consecutive Tesla Premium Certified installer, and we run the rebate paperwork for every customer who installs a Tesla battery through us. Handled by an installer who knows the process, the claim is straightforward. Tracked on your own, it becomes another admin job you do not need.

That certification is also why an update like this reaches you independently. Tesla keeps its certified installers up to date on rebate changes and firmware updates ahead of the wider market, and maintains that status through an annual audit. The same discipline runs through our Bureau Veritas Certified ISO 9001 quality, ISO 14001 environment and ISO 45001 safety, where an external auditor checks how we design, install and document every job. So when Tesla shifts the rules, we hear it early, and our process makes sure it lands correctly on your install with rebate paperwork that stands up.
