This update is specifically for existing iStore and Huawei customers who already have an iStore 5kWh battery system installed (IS-BATT-5000-ES), and are considering adding more storage capacity.
iStore is transitioning from the current 5kWh battery (IS-BATT-5000-ES) to a new 7kWh battery model expected to launch around June (pricing to be advised). It’s a positive product evolution—but it creates an important constraint for current 5kWh owners: the new 7kWh battery will be physically different in size and design, and it will not pair with existing 5kWh battery stacks.
If you want to expand your current system, this is the final window to do so with matching, compatible 5kWh modules.
Aacting now matters
- The key issue is compatibility. Battery expansions rely on matching modules designed to stack and integrate. Because the upcoming 7kWh battery will have different physical dimensions, mixed installations (adding a 7kWh module onto an existing 5kWh system) will not be possible.
- So, if expansion is on your roadmap, even if it’s “later this year”, it’s worth reviewing your options now while compatible 5kWh units are still available.
Stock & CEC eligibility limited
The IS-BATT-5000-ES is expected to be removed from the CEC-approved list around October 2026. After that point, new installations of this model are unlikely to remain eligible under standard compliance and rebate frameworks. Existing systems remain valid, but adding more 5kWh modules later may become far more difficult.
There is a limited number of IS-BATT-5000-ES units available with no further stock arriving. As the market approaches the 7kWh release and installers begin planning around the transition, demand is expected to rise and the remaining 5kWh inventory is expected to deplete quickly.
Who should act
Existing iStore 5kWh battery owners. If your household load has increased (EV charging, air con, pool equipment, work-from-home) or you simply want more overnight coverage, adding a matching 5kWh capacity now preserves your system’s expandability.
Huawei inverter owners with no battery (battery-ready systems). If your inverter installation was designed for storage later, this transition period may be an efficient time to add proven 5kWh storage while stock remains available.
If you’re considering expanding your system, PSW can help in several ways. We will confirm your current configuration, assess available expansion options, and recommend the quickest way to obtain compatible modules.
To get started:
1. Request an expansion review and quote by referencing IS-BATT-5000-ES.
2. Confirm the availability and timing based on your current system.
3. Ensure allocation while compatible stock is still available.
