Generation guide

Is 30 kW solar ideal for you?

If available rooftop surface area isn’t a concern, it’s essential to choose a solar energy system that matches your daily energy use. A 30 kW solar system is typically appropriate for an average daily consumption of 25 kWh, with a tolerance of up to 5 kWh. This means that if your daily usage is as high as 30 kWh or as low as 20 kWh, a 6.6 kW system could be a suitable option for you. To determine your daily energy consumption in kWh, check your Synergy bill.

Additional expansion factors should also be considered. If you need less or more power, explore 19 kW or 39 kW solar options x PSW.

Select an inverter.

An inverter converts solar energy into usable energy. When installed without batteries, network and oversizing limits often restrain a 30 kW solar package to a 5 kW inverter output. Here are three of our most popular 5 kW hybrid inverters:

Goodwe

Storage guide

Do you need a battery?

If you consume all of your power during the day, a battery will be less of a consideration. However, if 50% of energy consumption or more is unavoidably evening consumption, a battery completes the likelihood of bill reduction success.

But size matters! For example, a Tesla Powerwall provides 30 kW of storage capacity, approximately half of a 30 kW solar energy system’s daily generation (30 kW = approximately 30 kWh per day).

Your ideal battery size, more often than not, depends on your evening power use.

EV charge guide

Solar power your electric vehicle

One of the greatest variables is how much charge will your electric vehicle require per day to be powered by the sun effectively.

A recent internal study found a moderate daily commute required approximately 10 units per day. Topping this up daily from the sun in smaller fractions has benefits such as lower energy costs (considering both petrol and grid electricity resources).

In this graph, the EV charge guide (10 kWh) is added to the sum of the Powerwall storage guide (13.5 kWh).

Frequent Questions.

Familiarise yourself with common 30 kW solar questions.

In certain instances, yes. An advertised 30 kW solar package price has a base installation and product combination criteria.

1. Structure: The listed prices refer to single-level, three-phase and single-roof face dwellings with adequate switchboard accessibility/provisions available to accommodate the additional circuitry or associated components.

2. Product/ package: The base nominated price uses an SAJ R5 (10 kW) inverter within PSW Installation Zone 1 after the STC Zone 3 subsidy has been deducted as a point-of-sale discount. Additional installation costs may apply to ensure this package meets your specific expectation.

For the 2024 calendar year, eligible Perth and Bunbury region customers within STC Zone 3 receive a $4852 point-of-sale discount (subsidy) when installing 30 kW of solar panels on a 10 kW inverter. An amount that reduces annually.

Based on 128 Small Technology Certificates, a system incorporating 30 x 440 W solar panels and a $38 STC market value.

128 STC’s x $38 value = $4852 subsidy.

For your convenience, the PSW Energy 24 kW solar package prices include the subsidy already deducted as a point of sale discount (redeemable by PSW Energy after installation).

Systems greater than 5kW inverter capacity are exempt from the Synergy Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme (DEBS).

Yes, we prefer it this way also. The PSW Energy express quote system is designed to make solar energy adoption as painless as possible. An express quote ensures you benefit eliminating expensive sales commissions associated with in home ‘consultations’.

We honour every formal quote. If our system identifies a potential quoting complication associated with your property, we’ll send a technician (opposed to a salesperson) to investigate and deliver a firm price.
